Russia’s RUSAL wants to raise domestic aluminum sales 7–8% in 2017
MOSCOW, Sep 13 (PRIME) -- Russian aluminum giant UC RUSAL plans to raise domestic sales of aluminum by 7–8% on the year to more than 850,000 tonnes in 2017, Roman Andryushin, the company’s director for sales in Russia and CIS, told reporters Tuesday.
“I am sure that we will exceed (the sales) of 800,000 tonnes (this year). Last year, we sold 754,000 tonnes, so the growth amounted to about 50,000 tonnes or 8%. Next year, we forecast the same significant growth of 7–8%. We have to exceed the threshold of 850,000 tonnes of sales,” he said.
RUSAL is implementing more than 80 projects aimed at increasing demand for aluminum together with the Industry and Trade Ministry, Russia’s Aluminum Association and other interested parties. Next year, the amount of projects will exceed 100, he said.
Russia’s internal demand for aluminum may rise to 2 million tonnes in next five to seven years, while RUSAL expects its sales in Russia and the CIS to exceed 1 million tonnes by 2019.
